About Murchison Falls National Park

Murchison Falls National Park, located in northwestern Uganda, is the largest national park in the country and one of its most iconic attractions. Spanning over 3,840 square kilometers, it is named after the dramatic Murchison Falls, where the Nile River squeezes through a narrow 7-meter gorge before plunging 43 meters into a turbulent pool below.

The park is home to a rich variety of wildlife, including elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, giraffes, and over 450 bird species. The Nile River, which flows through the park, provides a habitat for hippos, crocodiles, and an array of aquatic life.

Popular activities include game drives, boat cruises to the base of the falls, bird watching, and hiking trails that offer stunning views of the waterfall and surrounding landscapes.
